Hare Spam

After Bury the Hatchetfish, I was worried about the formula with the rest of my Hare's. So I broke out my untried Hare's, I can now happily report that Bury the Hatchetfish was a fluke. The formulas for the following polishes were all wonderful. They were easy to control and had excellent glitter pay off.

Pegasus is a lilac jelly polish with silver hex glitter. I used 3 coats to get desired opacity.

I actually think with 3 coats it has too much glitter and would layer it next time over a pale purple like Essie Lilacism or Zoya Malia.

Afterglow is a dark blue jelly with orange, purple and pink glitter. I used 3 coats to get desired opacity.

I was disappointed with Afterglow, I was a bright cobalt blue instead of the dark navy blue that is shown.

Dog Day Dream is a red jelly polish with pink, purple and orange glitter. I used 2 coats to get desired opacity.

Dog Day Dream is gorgeous that is all.

look at all the variety in glitter shape and color...perfection!

Thanks for looking!

Hare Bury the Hatchetfish

Bury the Hatchetfish is part of Hare's Fall Collection, The Illuminated Life. It is a taupe/light brown jelly polish with blue and purple glitter.

I decided not to layer it over anything and used two very thick coats to get the desired opacity.

The formula for Bury the Hatchetfish was awful. It was very thick and clumpy. After I added thinner, the polish was a lot more manageable.

I think the color of the polish looks muddy, thanks to my skin tone, and would layer it over a deep brown or purple next time.

Thanks for looking!

Evolution Mani fail

My Julep box arrived on Wednesday and I decided to do a simple manicure using Alfre. Julep describes Alfre as a royal metropolitan purple metallic, which sounds right up my alley.

Unfortunately, this manicure was just a fail from the start. I could hand the brush strokes that are common with metallic polishes, what I couldn't handle was the inability for this polish to dry even after a coat of a fast drying top coat. I don't actually blame the polish for this, I blame the weather.  Even after the period of sitting still for what seemed like an excruciating long period, I managed to smudge and dent my nails badly; horribly on both of my index fingers. It was late and I didn't have time to completely redo my nails and I didn't want to get naked, soo I put cute little pink bird decals on my index fingers to try to hide the worst of the damage.

This is what it looked like in the end:

Here is a close up of the brushstrokes:

I like the color of this polish and at a later cooler date I will work at removing the brushstrokes.

The next day at work, I was constantly staring at nails with disgust. There were soo many imperfections that weren't there the night before, but I didn't want to give up and decided to try and hide the problem areas. Glitter was the obvious solution and Hare's Why So Igneous? had been screaming at me, literally screaming "use me! use me!", well maybe I imagined that ;) But I was also in the mood for a gradient, so I decided to use my screaming polish on my left hand and do a gradient with the same color scheme as Why So Igneous? on the right.

The polishes I used:
My camera hates purples. the Pop and julep are both color inaccurate in this photo.

My left hand is beautiful! Hare Why So Igneous? is just gorgeous. I couldn't ask for a better glitter polish in terms of appearance and formula. I have no complaints and therefore will stop talking about it and instead show you.
Please ignore the missing chuck, I had to move some furniture before I was able to take pictures.

My nail tale is not over yet, it's time for my right hand. My right hand is just blah! I used China Glaze Liquid Leather, Pop Violetto and then topped it with Icing's Eenie Greenie Miney Mo(I love the name!). The colors just didn't play well together and the bright Pop color turned into a dark maroon color over Alfre.

Eenie Greenie Miney Mo is comprised of small green and orange glitter. It's a lovely glitter that is being majorly held back by layering.

And speaking of Icing polishes, you should all go to The Icing (n/a) and buy some polish. Look at this lovely display:

I had to use some major self control and in the end only bought one polish, anyways, thanks for looking at my failed evolving manicure.

And the lesson of this manicure: Sometimes glitter is the only solution.

Quick swatches

I wanted to swatch my new polishes just so I could I see how pretty they are and I thought I would share.

Starting from the top right to the bottom left is Enchanted Awesomeness, Enchanted Austin Powers, Hare Heat Plague, Hare Magic Mist, Hare Why So Igneous, Hare Dog Day Dream, Hare Asteroid Turf, and Nerd Lacquer Holy Grail.
No Flash

I'm in love with all of these except Heat Plague, but I might need to layer that one to actually appreciate it. Right now, the glitter just looks a bit too muddy and congested for my taste. I also think I will need to layer Magic Mist and Holy Grail in order to get them to really pop.

I used two coats for all of these swatches.

Nail Mail!!

I came home today to some awesome mail! Actually awesome doesn't describe it, but thanks to preorders, restocks, blog sales, swaps and a hoarder mindset these pretties are mine!!

Hare polishes are so gorgeous, I'm so glad to finally have gotten my hands on a few.

From left to right is Asteroid Turf, Dog Day Dream, Magic Mist, Why so Igneous? and Heat Plague.

Here are some close ups:
It's time to ooh and ahh
I swapped one of my unused Nerd Lacquers for Holy Grail.
I can't wait to find out if it actually glows in the dark!

I've been craving a gold holo, so when Enchanted polishes were restocked I went for Austin Powers and couldn't resist Awesomenes. I'm glad I caved, look at that rainbow!

I can't wait for swatching time! If my nails could drool they would be. Now, I have one problem, which polish should I try first?!?
