Zoya Zara

My nails are currently sad. I had to cut them and I realize they really aren't all that short and the shape is quite lovely, but I'm always a little sad when I cut them. Luckily, I chose the perfect post-cut color, Zoya Zara is perfection! Zoya describes Zara as a "vivid blue-toned light purple with strong golden duochrome shimmer. Gives a magical look to nails." It doesn't just give a magical looks to nails, it is magic. Okay...it's not magic, but I do love this polish a lot. I managed to dent the polish on both middle fingers so Caged Bird Hallowishes came to the rescue!

Hallowishes is described as a "clear base with a blend of orange holographic and orange metallic glitters laced with royal purple and holographic stars, and a dusting of iridescent glitter to give a spooky sparkle to your nails." It makes me think of super heroes and therefor makes me feel or pretend to be one as I wear it.

Zara had a wonderful formula. It went on smoothly, didn't pool or clump and dried quickly. I used two coats to achieve desired opacity.

In bright lights the gold/copper shimmer comes alive, but even in dim lighting this polish is magic! As you can see in the dark camera phone picture there is gorgeous pink and green shimmer.

purple is not color accurate

I used 1 coat of Hallowishes using the dab method. The stars were a little tricky to get out, but I managed to get one star on each of my fingers.

If you don't already own it, go buy Zoya Zara it is magical! Remember to check out Caged Bird Nail Lacquers for some fun cute polish.

Hare Spam

After Bury the Hatchetfish, I was worried about the formula with the rest of my Hare's. So I broke out my untried Hare's, I can now happily report that Bury the Hatchetfish was a fluke. The formulas for the following polishes were all wonderful. They were easy to control and had excellent glitter pay off.

Pegasus is a lilac jelly polish with silver hex glitter. I used 3 coats to get desired opacity.

I actually think with 3 coats it has too much glitter and would layer it next time over a pale purple like Essie Lilacism or Zoya Malia.

Afterglow is a dark blue jelly with orange, purple and pink glitter. I used 3 coats to get desired opacity.

I was disappointed with Afterglow, I was a bright cobalt blue instead of the dark navy blue that is shown.

Dog Day Dream is a red jelly polish with pink, purple and orange glitter. I used 2 coats to get desired opacity.

Dog Day Dream is gorgeous that is all.

look at all the variety in glitter shape and color...perfection!

Hare Bury the Hatchetfish

Bury the Hatchetfish is part of Hare's Fall Collection, The Illuminated Life. It is a taupe/light brown jelly polish with blue and purple glitter.

I decided not to layer it over anything and used two very thick coats to get the desired opacity.

The formula for Bury the Hatchetfish was awful. It was very thick and clumpy. After I added thinner, the polish was a lot more manageable.

I think the color of the polish looks muddy, thanks to my skin tone, and would layer it over a deep brown or purple next time.

Pretty Serious BSOD

Say hello to some blue glitter polish heaven, Pretty Serious' BSOD is a gorgeous blue jelly polish with blue glitter.  BSOD or the Blue Screen of Death is part of the Hello World collection.

While the BSOD would normally bring feelings of frustration this polish just brings feeling of awe. In real life, the base is a brighter royal blue than my pictures are depicting.

I used two coats to achieve full opacity.

Pretty Serious polishes are available for sale at pretty-serious.com.

I hope everyone in Sandy's way stay dry and safe. It's a bit windy and a little rainy where I am and I hope it stays that way.
Should I start doing this for my nails?

Good luck everyone and thanks for looking!

Glittery kitties and web

I'm back again with a random manicure that I've done recently. This is one an evolving manicure, I just kept adding on to it because I never was completely satisfied with it.

I started off with Ruby Wings Eclipse. Ruby Wings is a polish I found at Urban Outfitters that is supposed to change colors in the sun, I never did notice a big color change and I hated the formula. It was very watery, so it was very hard to control and took about 3 coats to even it out. I then got bored with a cream and decided I needed glitter and put Maybelline Lavender Sparks on my middle finger. I love this glitter! It is just gorgeous, it is a lovely collection of lavender glitter in a few different sizes with some small holo glitter added in. I love it and I think everyone should go out and buy it!

Then I got bored and decided to stamp. I used Sally Hansen Glossy to stamp on the kitties and web from the DRK-A plate.

lights spots are annoying :(

Slime Time

October has begun and so has Halloween season. My nails have been slimed!

I used Color Club Tweet Me (one of the birchbox exclusives) as a base with an Unknown Color Club green (possibly Rebel Debutante) and OPI Don't Mess with OPI.

Old Manicure Spam

Soo...I guess apologies are in order. I have not managed to figure out to be good about blogging when real life gets hectic, so here are some past manicures, some are more recent than others.

Sally Hansen Celeb City with Cirque Ophelia (middle and pinky) and Essie Stroke of Brilliance (index and ring)

Cirque Ophelia is gorgeous and a dream to apply.

Pound of Glitter's Gray Matter

I believe this was 3 coats over Sally Hansen Celeb City. I used 3 coats because I wanted it to be darker,  I'm sure it's a two coater for most people.

By the way, Celeb City has been used multiple times because I often do my nails not at home and Celeb City was probably the only silver in my traveling case for a while.

This is the only semi-decent picture I could get of Cirque Vaudeville, but this is a seriously gorgeous color!

Lynnderella Nosegay over Zoya Kristen.

Whimsical Ideas by Pam's Peanut Butter and Jelly

A-England's St. George

I could not get a half-way decent picture of this gorgeous polish.

I hope you enjoyed looking and I promise to be better about updating!

Breakfast time! Tough as Nails Lacquer's Breakfast Combo No. 1

About a month ago, I saw this super adorable nail polish duo by Tough as Nails Lacquer called Breakfast Combo No. 1, but I didn't get it until recently. As soon as I saw them in person, I was in love. Go Sit On A Egg and The Baconian Method are too cute for words.

Go Sit On A Egg is described as "a delicious almost white but still yellow jelly-based lacquer with gold, yellow, and orange hex glitters dispersed throughout." A perfect description of this polish.

I used 3 coats to get the opacity and look I desired. This polish is adorable and definitely reminds of eggs.

The formula was good, opaque enough so there was a visible white base, but clear enough so that you can see the layers of glitter, which were easy to get out and place. My only complaint with the formula was that the it shows every flaw on my nails

The Baconian Method is described as a "brown glitter topcoat. It includes brown, orange, red, black, and white glitters in hex and bar shapes."

I used 4 coats for these pictures and I love this polish, but I should have layered it so I grabbed the only brownish polish I had with me at time and did just that.
Oo and here's a close up...so pretty.

It just so happens that the only brown (or rather close to brown) I had with me was Cirque French Roast, which is a GORGEOUS glitter polish with hints of gold and copper.

This is 3 coats of French Roast without a top coat, but it could have used one since it has a rather gritty texture.

I used 2 coats of The Baconian Method and now you can really see it.

Formula for The Baconian Method was perfect. I only wish I had used a base-coat on top of French Roast because I don't like how the grittiness is showing.

I love this adorable polish duo and everyone should check out Tough As Nails Lacquer on Facebook or Etsy.
Anyone craving breakfast now?

Comparison Time- All of Time and Space vs. Never Enough of These

Today, I have a comparison of one of my precious polishes, Nerd Lacquer's All of Time and Space, to Pound of Glitter's (a newer indie polish and polish jewelry maker) Never Enough of These.

sun
I saw My Lucid Bubble did a comparison of the two and I couldn't help but want to see the differences for myself.

All of Time and Space is on my Index and Ring Finger while Never Enough of These is on my Middle and Ring Finger.
sun
I used 3 coats for both polishes in all of these photos. The formulas for both polishes were about the same. They were both a little sheer and even with 3 coats there are empty spots, both of them would be better to layer over a mint green polish.

shade
The big difference between these two polishes is the color. All of Time and Space has a more pigmented base, at 3 coats it is significantly greener than Never Enough of These. Never Enough of These wins in the pink hex glitter department.  All of Time and Space has a lot more silver hex glitter and small magenta pink while Never Enough of These has significantly more pink hex glitter and an equal amount of small glitter.

In conclusion, If you are lemming All of Time and Space than Never Enough of These should do the trick. It is a gorgeous polish with an awesome formula.

You can check out Pound of Glitter polishes on her Facebook page and buy Never Enough of These and her other polishes at Etsy.
